What the law requires in British Columbia
In British Columbia, workplace safety is governed by Workers Compensation Act. The specific first aid requirements are set out in Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Part 3 and Schedule 3-A, administered by WorkSafeBC.
As a Canadian province, British Columbia has its own occupational health and safety framework with jurisdiction over all workplaces.
Training requirements
The required training levels in British Columbia are: basic (7 hours), intermediate (14 hours), advanced (70 hours). Certifications are valid for 3 years and must be renewed before expiry to remain compliant.
